This folk art love token is made from early 1900 papers. The hand was cut from an old envelope and the cuff was the lining of an old envelope that had a 1930s postmark. The heart is from the cover of a late 1800s farmer's pocket journal. The ring is a tiny sliver of gold cut from the cuff paper.
The metal frame has seen better days. It's dented and scuffed, but still has the deep blue paint with gold flecks. The original metal hanger is on the back.
This measures about 4 3/4" x 2 3/4".
I always hand cut my hearts and hands with big utility scissors. No templates or die cuts are ever used.
Signed and dated on the back, Lana Manis 2025.
I have included a short video so you can see the shimmer of the metallic paper. (coming as soon as I figure out how to upload it in the right format)
