Some time ago, I bought several antique frames and daguerreotype cases. These make beautiful frames for love tokens. This case was still intact. It's a perfect keepsake!
The case is embossed on the front and back with a beautiful floral design. It has the tiniest working latch. A delicate, faded gilt design goes all around the exterior edge AND the interior edge of the case. The pale pink background paper is original to the case.
The heart and hand pieces are made from aged, stained, watercolored paper. The heart on the hand is an early 1900s postage stamp... and it's purple! Can you see the tiny gold metallic dot on the ring? I've added a photo to show how small it is in comparison the my pen tip. I managed to cut it out with my big scissors and glue it on without too much trouble.
This piece measures about 2 3/8" x 2 3/4" closed.
Lean this lovely valentine on a shelf or display it on a miniature easel.
I always hand cut my hearts and hands with big utility scissors. No templates or die cuts are ever used.
The last two photos show this collection, front and back.
