Some time ago, I bought several antique frames and daguerreotype cases. These make beautiful frames for love tokens. This case was still intact. It's a perfect keepsake!
The case is embossed on the front and has the tiniest, delicate working latch. One side of the interior features a beautiful embossed velvet. A tiny gilt design goes all around the interior edge of the case.
The heart and hand pieces are usually made from aged, stained, watercolored paper. Sometimes I print copies of 18th and 19th century letters on the papers that I age. Such is the case with this love token.
This piece measures about 2 3/8" x 2 3/4" closed.
Lean this lovely valentine on a shelf or display it on a miniature easel.
I always hand cut my hearts and hands with big utility scissors. No templates or die cuts are ever used.
The last two photos show this collection, front and back.
