This one-of-a-kind artwork is entirely handmade—hand cut, hand woven, and thoughtfully assembled from a curated collection of antique and vintage papers. The background is the original white moiré–textured paper found inside the frame, preserved as a quiet foundation for the piece. The hand itself is cut from paper salvaged from the back of an old art print, carrying its own hidden history.
The ring is a small but striking detail, created from tarnished silver metallic paper taken from a 1930s Christmas card. At the center, the heart is formed from a copied 1700s indentured servant letter, while an 1800s French document was used to create the cuff, layering centuries of written lives into a single image.
The frame dates to the late 1800s and has lost much of its original velvet over time; however, when the doors are opened, traces of its rich, deep blue interior remain visible. The original wire easel was missing, so a wire loop was hand-made for hanging this love token. An antique ribbon could be tied to the loop for added embellishment, or the piece may be leaned on a shelf or displayed on an easel.
Signed and dated on the back.
