Some time ago, I bought several antique frames and daguerreotype cases. The cases had come apart, so I decided they'd make beautiful frames for love tokens.
The heart and hand are usually made from aged, stained, watercolored paper. Sometimes I print copies of 18th and 19th century letters on the papers that I age. Such is the case with this love token. The tiny ring is a shimmering gold metallic paper... it's about 1/16th of an inch wide! The heart is a postage stamp from the 1930s.
Lean this lovely valentine on a shelf or display it on a miniature easel.
This piece measures about 2 1/2" x 2 3/4".
I always hand cut my hearts and hands with big utility scissors. No templates or die cuts are ever used.
I have included a short video.
