I'm having a hard time letting go of this one and the sterling silver piece that is listed separately. From what I have researched, this was a mourning pendant. All the ones I found online said they were gold-filled, but I had this love token put together before I thought to look for any markings. So I will say it "could be" gold-filled, but I'm not certain about it. As for a pendant, you could wear it, but it is a bit heavy. I'd probably put a vintage ribbon through the ring and hang it or use as a pretty ornament. I can also be displayed on a miniature easel.
The heart and hand are made from aged, stained, watercolored paper. Sometimes I print copies of 18th and 19th century letters on the papers that I age. Such is the case with the heart. The background paper is from a 19th century French ledger. The tiny ring is a shimmering gold metallic paper, vintage, of course!
This piece measures about 2 1/2" x 2 3/4".
I always hand cut my hearts and hands with big utility scissors. No templates or die cuts are ever used.
