Some time ago, I bought several antique frames and daguerreotype cases. The cases had come apart, so I decided they'd make beautiful frames for love tokens. In this instance, I used the interior, embossed copper frame and glass.
The heart and hand are usually made from aged, stained, watercolored paper. Sometimes I print copies of 18th and 19th century letters on the papers that I age. Such is the case with this love token. The tiny ring and cuff are made from vintage paper from the back of a gilt Florentine picture frame. I salvage every little pretty thing I can find!
I used a bone ring to the back for hanging. See photo for reference. Hang this on the wall or use a length of vintage ribbon and make an ornament.
This piece measures about 2" x 2 1/2".
I always hand cut my hearts and hands with big utility scissors. No templates or die cuts are ever used.
I have included a short video to show the shimmering gold accents.
