I have saved this beautiful, gilt, Florentine triptych for a while. Finally, I decided to use it for a love token.
The heart and cuff are made from aged, stained, watercolored paper. I used an old brown dust cover paper off an antique print for the hand. The background paper is from a 19th century French letter. The tiny ring is a shimmering gold metallic dot on a narrow band. It was cut from paper that was on the back of a Florentine picture frame. The decorative band on the cuff is also from the Florentine paper.
This piece measures about 5 1/2” x 3 1/8” when closed. It is 5 1/2” x 6 1/8” opened.
I always hand cut my hearts and hands with big utility scissors. No templates or die cuts are ever used.
