I was saving it for myself, but never brought it out to display. It is faded, worn, but, oh, when you open it… the color is still there and the velvet is beautiful!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe one day I discovered an antique reverse painting mirror. The painting was of a lady and gentleman, but their heads had deteriorated! I went to put it away and realized it fit in the velvet pocket watch case!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnd then I knew what had to happen…\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI made a tiny heart in hand to go inside, but I didn’t remove the remains of the painting. I wanted to keep what was left, since it has made it this long through time. The paper behind the heart and hand is original to this piece.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt moves around in the case when it’s closed, so I made a lace covered cushion to keep it secure inside.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI wrote a little note to tuck inside, explaining how this marriage came to be. It is written in a scrap of 1800s French document paper.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe antique velvet case measures about 3” x 4”. The antique mirror measures 1 3\/4” x 1 3\/4”.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI always hand cut my hearts and hands with big utility scissors.
